This is a call for applications for the CIDAP/ Pyrenees-Mediterranean Euroregion Audiovisual Project Development LABORATORY 2024 edition.

The requirements and conditions are detailed below:

1. Applicants may be PRODUCERS, DIRECTORS, SCRIPTWRITERS AND CREATORS from any country in the world or producers resident or with a registered office in the Pyrenees-Mediterranean Euroregion (Balearic Islands, Catalonia and Occitania). They can be natural or legal persons.

2. Audiovisual projects, regardless of the origin of the creative team, must have STRONG CULTURAL CONTENT LINKED TO THE PYRENEES-MEDITERRANEAN EUROREGION (Balearic Islands, Catalonia and Occitania).

3. Audiovisual content projects of ANY FORMAT, narrative language (fiction, documentary, animation, transmedia, hybrid formats…) and GENRE in development may participate.

4. Each project must have a working team that includes at least a DIRECTOR AND A SCRIPTWRITER. The same person may take on several of these roles. Each of these functions may also be assumed by one or more people. Each project may have a maximum of FOUR PARTICIPANTS participants in the online sessions and a maximum of TWO in the face-to-face sessions.

5. Preference will be given to creators UNDER 30 YEARS OLD or SENIORS (OVER 50 YEARS OLD, WITHOUT LIMIT).

6. Preference will be given to PROJECTS OF AN INNOVATIVE NATURE, either due to their format (VIRTUAL REALITY, IMMERSIVE NARRATIVES, NEW MEDIA), or because they involve a proposal focused on issues of SUSTAINABILITY, GENDER EQUALITY or visibility of GROUPS AT RISK.

7. Those teams that present GENDER PARITY in the team members will be positively valued.

8. The projects must have, at a minimum, a TREATMENT OR LONG SYNOPSIS (8 pages) of the work and in the case of SERIES, TRANSMEDIA AND HYBRIDS they must have a bible (maximum ten pages).

9. PROJECTS MAY NOT BE SUBMITTED WHEN FILMING HAS ALREADY BEGUN, except in the case of documentaries which, due to their nature, require prior filming of part of the project.

10. Each team can only submit ONE PROJECT PROPOSAL PER YEAR.

11. Projects conceived or developed in the past in training centres (film schools or universities) will be eligible, provided that the applicants OWN THE RIGHTS to the scripts submitted. Projects may have participated in other development forums, courses, laboratories or workshops.

12. Successful applicants must CONFIRM THEIR OWNERSHIP of the rights to the projects submitted. In case the selected project is an adaptation, the selected applicants will have to prove that they have the necessary rights to carry out the adaptation.

13. The participants undertake to include the LOGO AND MENTION of their participation in CIDAP in everything related to the project (including end credits) that will be carried out after the end of the laboratoire.

14. The selected teams commit themselves to participate in the online sessions and in the face-to-face workshops.

The ONLINE SESSIONS will take place during the period of time indicated in the calendar, although their number, agenda and timetable will be specified according to the nature of the participating projects.

The FACE-TO-FACE SESSIONS involve staying at the workshop location for the entire indicated time. As it is a highly personalized monitoring tailored to each of the projects, the CIDAP members will decide together with each of the participating teams the phases in which they will participate. This selection is made as the laboratory progresses and it is not possible to program it in advance. It may happen that some projects participate in all phases and that for other projects this is not the case since each project has different needs.

15. Participants undertake to comply with the financial conditions of the call issued below (see section below: ECONOMIC CONDITIONS and CONTRIBUTION OF PARTICIPANTS) . IN-PERSON MENTORING involves staying at the workshop location for the entire indicated time. Since it is a highly personalized monitoring tailored to each of the projects, the CIDAP members will decide together with each of the participating teams the phases in which they will participate. This selection is made as the laboratory progresses and not It is possible to program it in advance. It may happen that some projects participate in all phases and that for other projects this is not the case since each project has different needs.

16. PARTICIPATION IN THIS CALL IMPLIES FULL ACCEPTANCE OF ITS RULES.

The documentation to be presented in duplicate, in SPANISH, CATALAN, OCCITANO or FRENCH, AND in ENGLISH, will include:

  • One Pager (with title, genre, format, country of origin, target, etc.)
  • Synopsis (ONE PAGE minimum, FOUR PAGES maximum)
  • DIRECTOR’S REPORT
  • PRODUCER’S REPORT, if any
  • CURRICULA VITE of the participating team
  • MATERIAL AND VISUAL REFERENCES (optional, document no longer than ten pages + link to video-pitch or teaser)

The presentation will be made via e-mail (cidap@efimerofilms.com). In the subject line of the e-mail, please write “CIDAP Euroregion Proposal”. In the body of the e-mail the name of the project, the name of the team members and a DOWNLOADABLE LINK to the project documentation to be submitted must be included.

The selection committee will be made up of the CIDAP organising team and other professionals from the audiovisual industry.

The Selection Committee will examine the projects and award a score of between 1 and 10 points for each of the following evaluation criteria (the maximum score will be 50 points):

  1. QUALITY OF THE SCRIPT (according to contents related to the culture of the Pyrenees-Mediterranean Euroregion).
  2. INNOVATION of the proposal
  3. TRACK RECORD of the applicant teams
  4. International POTENTIAL of the projects
  5. VIABILITY

The projects (from a minimum of EIGHT to a maximum of TWELVE) that have obtained the best scores will be selected to participate in the CIDAP 2024 Edition.

WAITING LIST: If, once accepted, they withdraw from the laboratory, their place will be occupied by the project with the highest score that had not been included in the selection.

The decision of the selection panel is FINAL.

CIDAP 2024 will be developed in 4 PHASES in different places in the Pyrenees-Mediterranean Euroregion between the months of May to November 2024 and the value of the development offered per project is approximately €1,250 per PROJECT AND PHASE (With a maximum duration of 5 days in person per phase).

This amount covers the work carried out in the MENTORING, the participation of the accompanying EXPERTS and PARTIALLY THE MAINTENANCE of the face-to-face sessions.

CIDAP is a project supported by the PYRENEES-MEDITERRANEAN EUROREGION. There is also the support of PAC (Producers Audiovisuals de Catalunya) and the matchmaking platform INCOPRODUCTION.

The laboratory is divided into four phases. PRIOR TO EACH OF THEM, INVITED PARTICIPANTS WILL BE SENT A LETTER OF COMMITMENT THAT THEY MUST SIGN AND RETURN, ALONG WITH A BANK RECEIPT.*

The amounts** that participants must contribute in each of them are the following:

REGISTRATION of projects: €20 per project.

1st IN-PERSON PHASE: €100 per person

2nd IN-PERSON PHASE: €100 per person

3rd IN-PERSON PHASE: €100 per person

4th IN-PERSON PHASE: €100 per person

*It is important to note that, given that the accompaniment process is personalized, NOT ALL PROJECTS PARTICIPATE IN ALL IN-Person PHASES, a decision that will be made by mutual agreement between the organization and the participants, although the final decision is in the hands of CIDAP.

**To these amounts, in the case of PARTICIPANTS RESIDENT IN SPAIN, VAT of 21% must be added.

The name of the project presented must appear in the concept.

1st ON-LINE AND IN-PERSON PHASE (CATALONIA): from June 3rd to June 30th, 2024

2nd ON-LINE AND IN-PERSON PHASE (CATALONIA): from July 8th to July 28th, 2024

3rd ON-LINE AND IN-Person PHASE (OCCITANIA): from September 16th to October 20th, 2024

4th ON-LINE AND IN-Person PHASE (BALEARIC ISLANDS): from November 4th to November 24th, 2024
