OUR WORK

At Efímero Films we build custom stories. If stories are what identify us, there cannot be two identical stories. That’s why we help creators to find and tell their own, to give them their personalised formats, to convey them with their own voices.

CASE STUDY

The CINÉMA ÉPHÉMÈRE is our new commitment to continue working along the same lines that define us as a company, and a further proof that our work methodology is effective.

Let’s see how it was born.

STARTING POINT

Not so long ago, with the massive irruption and consumption of VOD, the audio-visual industry saw its traditional business model falter. The COVID-19 pandemic made the situation worse: it forced theatres and cinemas to close down…

Many projects were put on stand-by, many professionals found themselves out of work, many companies went bankrupt and audiences were left without new productions to enjoy.

Efímero Films was not an exception.

So… what could we do?

DEVELOPING PROCESS

After many a debate and analysis of the situation, we understood that the few solutions that were proposed (mostly coming from the theatre and live performance sector), were a poor substitute for the real thing, a shabby shadow of the original experience.

Offering a previously recorded version of a live show is just a placebo which misrepresents what live arts are all about: they’re live!

So after many a twist and turn, we arrived at the concept of “Ephemeral Cinema“.

The next step was to carry out tests and prototypes to check the feasibility of the Cinéma Éphémère.

In December 2020 we carried out the first broadcast test… which was a big success!

Ephemeral Cinema

A virtual event where you can enjoy content filmed and produced in real time, [specially designed to be produced and] viewed via streaming and which will disappear instantly without leaving a public record, providing the viewer with a novel user’s experience.”

RESULTS

So, yes, the Cinéma Éphémère combines the best of cinema and live performance together, with the user experience offered by the Net: it solves the problem exposed.

Now we have a new genre which we are very proud of, which also offers new possibilities beyond what we first envisaged and which we are already exploring.
